Hop Stop Closes Doors in Oxted, but Opens Online Delivery Service

Dec 7, 2022 | Beer

There was sad news this week as Hop Stop’s Oxted beer shop closed its doors. Likely this has been a trend for many independent specialist beer shops over the last few years, with lower footfall since COVID and increased supermarket competition making the business unsustainable.

It is a real shame as I enjoyed having this excellent little shop next to the station since I moved here. Alas, my drinking prowess was never going to keep it open single-handedly. Oxted high street continues to evolve, but that is a subject for a different blog post.

It’s not all doom and gloom though. The Hop Stop bar in Reigate remains open,  and Hop Stop has launched a new website for online ordering, which replaces their weekly form for collections. They are now offering free deliveries to the local area on specific days for orders over £10.

Not only that, it seems this may result in more draught options being delivered and perhaps more deals for those 5-litre specials. I will certainly be using the service before Christmas.

So, check out their site and create an account or subscribe to their newsletter to get information sent to you weekly with details on the latest beers they have in stock.

You’ll need to order before the cut-off time for your area to be able to get your beer delivered.

A great deal if you are lazy like me and prefer to stay in the warm.

Feels like a while since we’ve explored a new place due to COVID and the toddler, so a visit to the Cotswolds came at the perfect time this spring.

After Improssibrew present their beers on Dragon’s Den, I decided to try it for myself to see if this so-called ‘social blend’ worked.
