For a while now I’ve liked the idea of purchasing wine and saving it for a special occasion in the future when it is at it’s best.
It just so happens that one of the many generous wedding gifts my wife and I received recently, is exactly that.
Containing 3 bottles of wine, the idea is that you open each of the wines on your 1st, 3rd and 5th wedding anniversaries.
What a great idea!
The box, from legendary wine merchants Berry Bros. & Rudd, is complete with guidance on storage and extensive tasting notes on each of the wines.
The wine itself is a step up in quality than we are used to, and is as follows:
- Year 1 – 2012 Gusborne Estate, Brut Reserve, Sparkling, Kent, England.
- Year 3 – 2014 Santenay, Camille Giroud, Burgundy.
- Year 5 – 2012 Chateaux Ormes de Pez, St Estèphe, Bordeaux.
Other wedding presents included some swanky new wine glasses and a beautiful carafe, so we are both going to feel pretty sophisticated and grown up in a years time!
I just hope the wine stays in good condition, and I look forward to drinking them on the 27th July for the next few years.
