Want to Work in Beer? Craft Academy Brewery Launching at the Florence this Week

Sep 5, 2017 | Beer

A new brewery may not seem too unusual in London these days, but this brewery is a bit different.

It’s called the ‘Craft Academy Brewery’ and it’s a setup designed to train those interested in working in the beer industry.

Apprentices will be paid the London living wage and will be trained in brewing, sales and marketing in the industry.

The endeavor is supported by large macro brewery Greene King, but it’s unclear how much involvement they have in the project on a day to day basis.

I doubt another large brewery masquerading as craft will be popular, but more apprenticeships in the industry can only be a good thing.

They had several beers available at the Ally Pally Foodies Festival:

  • Over Easy: A session IPA 3.8%
  • Bitter Sweet: Black IPA 6%
  • Desert Ryeder: Rye Beer 4.8%
  • High & Dry: Dry Hop Lager 5%

I’ll try the few I bought this week and report back.

The event occurs at the Florence pub in London 7-8th sept (4-10pm) and will have food, music and of course, plenty of beer. The event is free and those interested can find out more here or meet the organisers at the event (2-7pm) to discuss the project.

Some flyers I picked up below:

A Visit to Diddly Squat Farm Shop

Feels like a while since we’ve explored a new place due to COVID and the toddler, so a visit to the Cotswolds came at the perfect time this spring.

After Improssibrew present their beers on Dragon’s Den, I decided to try it for myself to see if this so-called ‘social blend’ worked.
