Over the past year, I’ve enjoyed many visits with friends and family to Titsey Brewery’s taproom, both for a tasty breakfast and some afternoon brews.
Boasting a fantastic view over the North Downs and situated just across the road from the North Downs Way public footpath, the location is ideal—and not too far from me either. In fact, I can trek along the North Downs Way, and it takes me about an hour.
It’s much closer for me than Westerham Brewery, which I used to visit more frequently.
Each time I visit, the beer and food selection seems to get better, especially the seasonal real ales on offer.
So, I was especially pleased when I heard there was going to be a beer festival this year. At just £6 a ticket, which included a glass and two tokens, it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.
The festival took place from 4th to 6th October, and they were lucky to have decent weather for this time of year. There was a great vibe, with plenty of outdoor seating and stalls selling food (we picked up some venison and local Titsey honey).
Alongside the regular bar, which operated as a cash bar, there was a large marquee attached to the brewery. This housed the stage for live bands, the chilli-eating competition, and the real ale bar.
One of the highlights was the superb selection of Green Hop beers, brewed with hops fresh from the harvest. Many of these were local, such as Titsey’s own Green and Gold and Godstone Brewers’ Fuggles Green Hop beer.
It was also great to see Brentwood Brewing represented with many of its beers. I’ve visited that brewery before with my brother and friends, so it was nice to see them here.
After scoffing some wings, loaded chips, and plenty of halves of ale, it was time to head home with the family. I’d love to stay late into the evening at these beer festivals, but with a young baby awake half the night, it’s just not a good idea!
I’m already looking forward to next summer, as I noticed the brewery has extended the outdoor seating to the rear. I’m really impressed with all the work the team has put into this site, and it’s clear how popular it’s become—it’s always buzzing when I visit.
