Hatherwood Ruby Rooster Ruby Ale Tasting

Mar 21, 2017 | Beer, Beer Reviews

As mentioned previously, Lidl have started selling some more varied beer, which is labelled as ‘Hatherwood’.

These are handily numbered, so I’ll make my way through then when I can.

Number 4 is a ruby ale, and it’s apt moniker is ‘The Ruby Rooster’.

It poured with a lovely tight foamy head, and is a very dark reddish hue. Much like how Guinness is not actually black.

Hatherwood No4 Ruby Rooster

It’s so dark, it almost tricks your brain into thinking it will be a weighty behemoth, but this is not he case.

Its pretty thin at 3.8 and I feel It needs more weight. But there was some chocolate malt in there whilst being certainly refreshing. Not what I was expecting, but not one I’ll be buying again.

Have you tried The Ruby Rooster? If you have, what do you think? Which other Hatherwood ales do you think are the best?
