Bad Brownie Review – The Best Brownie Box Delivery?

Aug 4, 2021 | Food

Back in January of this year, it was dark, cold and the start of the third long lockdown in the UK. But for us, the biggest challenge was the small human who joined our world and turned it upside down.

For two sleep deprived and clueless new parents, the daily visit from the postman was one of the highlights. He would come bearing cards and parcels from friends and family, reminding us that even if we couldn’t introduce our bundle of joy to them, that they were thinking of us.

Most gifts were cuddly toys and cute little outfits, as well as many bunches of flowers.

But on Day 5 of our life as parents, a small box arrived with a selection of delicious brownies. I won’t say this was the best of all the presents, but it was hugely welcome and quickly devoured over the next few days.

Since then, we sent brownie deliveries to a few friends who had kindly gifted us hand-me-downs from their small ones.

So when the maker of these brownies contacted us a few days ago to offer us a box of 24 to taste and review, we didn’t have to think about it.

Bad Brownie make ‘dangerously good’ brownies that can be posted through a letterbox. We love that they come in tiny bitesize pieces – somehow it makes them easier to eat and feel less naughty…even if like us you eat several in one sitting.

The flavour selection this time included triple chocolate, chocolate orange, peanut butter, Ferrero Rocher, salted caramel and white chocolate raspberry.

It’s hard to really analyse brownie flavours or be negative in any way because – well – they’re brownies. And brownies are made of sugar and butter and chocolate and all good things.

Mr Bacchanalian has a very mild nut allergy, which meant all the peanut butter and ferrero rocher brownies had to be eaten by me. What a hardship. I particularly liked the smooth but crunchy texture of the Ferrero Rocher flavour.

Salted caramel is always a winner and Bad Brownie’s is no exception. It definitely tasted the richest and most decadent of all the flavours.

Of the others, we liked the chocolate chunks in the triple chocolate, and the tangy creaminess of the raspberry white chocolate, but think the chocolate orange was the big winner. It smelled great and the orangey chocolate topping – kind of a mixture of an icing and ganache – was delicious.

We were already big fans of Bad Brownie before they sent us this box to try, and tasting all these flavours has reminded us just how good they are.

I’ve been looking for a thank you gift to post to a friend who has a dairy-free household due to allergies, and see that Bad Brownie delivers vegan and gluten free brownies too, so I’ll be placing an order for the vegan brownie box – containing Oreo cookie dough, Biscoff and After 8 flavours. In fact…maybe I need to try those ones myself as well…
